Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, led a CPC delegation to South Africa from Wednesday to Saturday.
During the visit, Liu met with Cyril Ramaphosa, leader of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) and President of South Africa. They engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing the partnership between the two countries and their ruling parties.
Liu also held talks with Fikile Mbalula, Secretary-General of the ANC; Solly Afrika Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party; and Ronald Lamola, South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. The meetings focused on deepening inter-party exchanges, sharing experiences in governance and administration, and promoting practical cooperation across various sectors.
The CPC delegation also engaged with South African media and think tank representatives, fostering dialogue and mutual understanding between the two nations.
Both sides pledged to implement the important consensus reached by their heads of state, maintain close inter-party relations, and advance China-South Africa and China-Africa relations. They emphasized the importance of collaboration to drive greater development and mutual benefit.
