Data Analyst Revisits China After 8 Years, Marvels at Rapid Growth

Inessa Alaverdyan, a data science analyst at Cisco and a Chinese language enthusiast, recently returned to China after eight years. Participating in the 2024 Future Close-Up program—a high-level youth exchange initiative hosted by the China International Communications Group Center for the Americas, the Hong Kong Federation of Liaoning Associations, and Tencent—Alaverdyan witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformations the country has undergone.

In an interview with CGTN’s Enoch Wong, Alaverdyan reflected on her previous experiences living in China and expressed awe at the nation’s rapid development. “The growth is truly astounding,” she remarked. “In just a few years, China has significantly increased its global competitiveness and demonstrated impressive forward planning.”

Alaverdyan noted the strides China has made in sustainability, highlighting advancements in green technology and urban planning. “The commitment to sustainability was evident everywhere I looked, from eco-friendly transportation to innovative waste management solutions,” she said.

The Future Close-Up program aims to foster international understanding and collaboration by bringing together young professionals from around the world. For Alaverdyan, the visit not only rekindled her fond memories of China but also provided fresh insights into its evolving role on the global stage.
