Celtics Stage Dramatic Comeback to Lead Series 3-0 Against Pacers

The Boston Celtics pulled off a stunning comeback on Saturday, defeating the Indiana Pacers 114-111 in Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. With this victory, the Celtics have taken a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Despite missing their regular season assists leader Tyrese Haliburton due to a hamstring injury, the Pacers displayed exceptional offensive prowess in the first half. Shooting an impressive 64.6 percent from the field, they surged ahead to lead by as many as 18 points (84-66) in the third quarter.

Sophomore guard Andrew Nembhard stepped up in Haliburton’s absence, delivering a postseason career-high performance. Nembhard scored 32 points and dished out nine assists, making 12 of his 21 field goal attempts, including four of seven from beyond the arc. His leadership kept the Pacers’ hopes alive deep into the final quarter.

In the waning moments of the game, with the Pacers trailing by just one point (112-111) and less than 10 seconds remaining, Nembhard seized the opportunity to turn the tide. However, his attempt to drive into the lane resulted in a crucial turnover, as Celtics’ guard Jrue Holiday stripped the ball away, sealing the victory for Boston.

The Celtics’ resilience was on full display as they overcame the substantial deficit, showcasing their determination to advance to the NBA Finals. The Pacers now face the daunting task of needing a win in Game 4 to keep their championship aspirations alive.
