Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Astana on Tuesday for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and a state visit to Kazakhstan.
The visit has been met with enthusiasm by residents in Kazakhstan, who believe it will strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
CGTN (China Global Television Network) spoke with locals to gather their views on President Xi’s visit and their impressions of China and its influence in their daily lives.
Alkar Kulan Askarovna, a Kazakh doctor, expressed optimism about the upcoming meetings between President Xi and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. “I believe this visit will have a positive impact on areas such as politics, the economy, and culture. And the number of student exchanges between the two countries will also increase,” she said.
Many others echoed similar sentiments, hoping that enhanced cooperation would bring mutual benefits and foster deeper understanding between the people of Kazakhstan and China.
As the SCO summit convenes, attention is focused on regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges. The discussions and agreements made during President Xi’s visit are expected to play a significant role in shaping the future of Central Asia.
