On Monday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang welcomed Polish President Andrzej Duda in Beijing, marking a significant step in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Poland. The meeting was characterized by mutual expressions of willingness to deepen cooperation and align development strategies, fostering closer ties between the two nations.

Since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, China and Poland have witnessed a leap in exchanges and cooperation across various fields. Premier Li highlighted the tangible benefits this collaboration has brought to the peoples of both countries, emphasizing the importance of furthering these developments.

“China is committed to working with Poland to carry forward our traditional friendship, enhance political mutual trust, and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation,” Li stated. He underscored the significance of following the strategic guidance of the two heads of state to push for greater advancement in bilateral relations.

The Premier expressed China’s readiness to align development strategies with Poland, using high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a catalyst to upgrade economic and trade relations. “We aim to foster optimized and balanced development of bilateral trade, achieve efficient and smooth connectivity, and expand cooperation in emerging fields such as new energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence,” Li added.

Emphasizing mutual benefits and win-win results, Li welcomed more quality Polish products into the Chinese market and called on Poland to provide a fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises. He also advocated for strengthening people-to-people exchanges, particularly in youth and education, to enhance mutual understanding and friendship.

Addressing broader international relations, Li expressed hope that the European Union would view China’s development objectively and rationally. He urged the EU to honor its commitment to free trade and create a fair market environment for China-EU economic and trade cooperation, promoting steady and healthy development of their relations.

President Duda echoed these sentiments, reflecting on 75 years of diplomatic ties marked by mutual respect and resilience amidst changing international dynamics. “Poland attaches great importance to relations with China and firmly abides by the one-China principle,” Duda affirmed. He expressed support for the Belt and Road Initiative and a willingness to provide an equal and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.

“We are eager to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in economy, trade, and culture to elevate our bilateral relations to a new level,” Duda stated. He also conveyed Poland’s support for the development of EU-China relations and expressed readiness to play a positive role in enhancing cooperation between the EU and China.

The meeting signifies a mutual commitment to deepening strategic ties and collaborative efforts in various sectors, highlighting the influential roles both nations play in global affairs.
