Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived in Beijing on Saturday night to commence a five-day state visit to the Chinese mainland, marking a significant milestone in the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and China.
During his visit, President Duda is scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping to outline the future development of China-Poland relations. The two leaders will engage in an in-depth exchange of views on issues of mutual interest and attend a signing ceremony for cooperation documents, signaling a commitment to enhancing bilateral ties.
This meeting follows President Xi’s state visit to Poland in 2016 and President Duda’s attendance at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, reflecting the ongoing dedication to strengthening diplomatic and economic connections between the two nations.
In addition to discussions with President Xi, President Duda will meet with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, to further explore avenues for cooperation.
Highlighting Poland’s role in international economic forums, President Duda will attend the 15th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the Summer Davos, in Dalian on June 25. His participation underscores Poland’s interest in engaging with Asian markets and exploring new economic opportunities.
Reflecting on the historical significance of Poland-China relations, former Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski remarked, “It is worth remembering that Poland was among the earliest nations to recognize the People’s Republic of China. Since then, bilateral relations have been developing prosperously in a mutually beneficial direction.” In a recent interview with CGTN, he added, “Today’s China is a very appealing market, and it has no big differences from other global markets. It’s fascinating to be able to observe the country’s great changes and development.”
As Poland and China celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations, President Duda’s state visit is expected to bolster cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange, reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
