At a news conference in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, Brazilian surfers who have qualified for the Paris Olympics shared their aspirations for the upcoming games. Organized by the World Surf League (WSL), the event highlighted the athletes' enthusiasm and determination to secure gold medals in France.
“I think it's the Olympic gold! It's the biggest sports event in the world, and that is on top of everything. It's part of our professional careers as surfers. I'm here, I have sponsors, commitments inside and out of the water, all of my team, my family, and my friends. It's a huge dream that all athletes have. I think I'll win gold,” said Brazilian Olympic surfing qualifier Joan Chianca.
The Brazilian team is poised to make a significant impact at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with high hopes of bringing home top honors in surfing, a sport that made its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020.
