Xi Jinping Calls for Modernization of China’s Public Security Work

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the nation’s police force to accelerate the modernization of public security work. Speaking at a national conference on public security in Beijing on Tuesday, Xi emphasized the importance of adapting to new challenges to ensure national stability and public safety.

Xi, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the need for innovative strategies and enhanced capabilities within the public security apparatus. He urged law enforcement to embrace technological advancements and strengthen their ability to prevent and handle complex issues.

“Faced with new situations and tasks, we must promote the modernization of public security work and improve its overall effectiveness,” Xi stated during his address to the assembled police personnel.

Senior officials Li Qiang, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi, all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, were also present at the conference. Their attendance underscores the high-level commitment to advancing China’s public security objectives.

Xi’s call to action comes amid evolving domestic and international contexts that necessitate a robust and responsive public security system. By focusing on modernization, China’s leadership aims to enhance the country’s capacity to maintain social harmony and protect its citizens in an increasingly complex world.
