In a move to bolster bilateral relations, China’s top political advisor, Wang Huning, met with Puan Maharani, Speaker of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, in Beijing on Tuesday.
Wang, who serves as the chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), highlighted the significant progress made between China and Indonesia in recent years. “Under the strategic guidance of our heads of state, China-Indonesia relations have entered a new chapter,” Wang remarked. He emphasized China’s readiness to work closely with Indonesia to deepen political mutual trust, collaborate on the Belt and Road Initiative, and enhance people-to-people exchanges.
Maharani reciprocated the enthusiasm, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to the one-China principle. “We are eager to deepen cooperation with China across various fields such as the economy, culture, and tackling climate change,” she stated. Maharani expressed the Indonesian House of Representatives’ willingness to strengthen exchanges with China to address global challenges and promote world peace and stability.
The meeting signifies a mutual desire to not only advance their respective national developments but also to contribute positively to regional stability and prosperity. As both nations navigate the complexities of the global landscape, their strengthened partnership could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Asia’s political and economic environment.
