Displaced families in Gaza are receiving much-needed relief as the Chinese government continues to provide humanitarian aid to Palestine. To ease the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, China has sent several batches of food, medicine, and emergency supplies through Egypt.
On April 18 and 19, two shipments of humanitarian supplies arrived at El-Arish airport and Port Said in Egypt. The shipments, including tents, blankets, clothing, medical supplies, and flour, are being transported to the strip through the Rafah border crossing.
Among those benefiting from the aid is the family of Jawad Abu Shakra, who were displaced in Rafah. After receiving a tent donated by China, Jawad described the immediate improvement it brought to their living conditions. “The tent doesn’t leak when it’s raining, and it probably has seven windows so you’re not affected much by the heat,” he said.
With border crossings closed, Jawad’s family faces a tight situation as necessities have become increasingly expensive. The Chinese aid offers a glimmer of hope for many families like his, struggling to cope with the challenges of displacement and limited resources.
The continued support from the international community is crucial for addressing the humanitarian needs in Gaza. China’s contributions highlight the importance of global cooperation in providing relief to those affected by conflict and ensuring that basic necessities reach the most vulnerable populations.
