China and Kazakhstan Forge Stronger Ties in ‘Golden Period’ of Cooperation

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, and Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin during his visit to Kazakhstan from Wednesday to Friday.

Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, engaged in comprehensive discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields.

He highlighted that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a \”golden period\” of rapid development. Cooperation in multiple domains has reached unprecedented levels.

\”China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to implement the consensus reached by our leaders, firmly support each other on issues concerning our core interests, and advance the alignment of our national development strategies,\” Liu stated.

He emphasized China’s commitment to enhancing coordination within multilateral frameworks, including the China-Central Asia mechanism, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the United Nations, aiming to build an even closer China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future.

Kazakh leaders praised the fruitful development of bilateral ties and reaffirmed their country’s adherence to the one-China principle. They expressed willingness to collaborate with China to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative with high quality, deepen practical cooperation, expand cultural exchanges, combat the \”three forces\” of terrorism, separatism, and extremism, and promote new developments in Kazakhstan-China relations.

During his visit, Liu also met with the mayor of Almaty and governors of four Kazakh regions adjacent to Xinjiang, reaching consensus on promoting local cooperation between the two countries.
