The 26th Cross-Straits Fair for Economy and Trade opened on Thursday in Fuzhou, the capital of southeast China’s Fujian Province. Aimed at deepening integrated development across the Taiwan Strait, the four-day event is expected to attract more than 50 industrial and commercial organizations and over 1,000 compatriots and businesspeople from Taiwan.

At the opening ceremony, Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, highlighted the robust recovery and innovative vitality of the Chinese mainland’s economy.

“Our economy continues to rebound, showing great innovation vitality and bright prospects,” Song said. “We are fully capable of providing strengthened impetus for cross-Strait economic cooperation and opening broader space for development.”

Song emphasized the mainland’s commitment to promoting cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields. “We will continue to take the lead in sharing with Taiwan compatriots and enterprises the opportunities and fruits of China’s modernization and development,” he stated.

He also expressed support for Fujian Province in building the cross-Strait integrated development demonstration zone. “We hope that Taiwan compatriots, especially young people, will seize this opportunity to come to Fujian to study, live, work, and start businesses,” Song added.

Over its 30-year history, the Cross-Straits Fair has become a renowned platform for business collaboration, attracting more than 10,000 enterprises from Taiwan and approximately 30,000 businesspeople from the region. The fair plays a significant role in exploring new pathways for integrated development and further enhancing economic cooperation across the Taiwan Strait.
