Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a symposium with overseas buyers attending the 135th session of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, in Guangzhou on Wednesday.
At the symposium, representatives of overseas buyers shared their experiences of strengthening cooperation with China through the Canton Fair. They highlighted the fair’s significant role in promoting trade exchanges and fostering friendly relations between China and other countries. Expressing confidence in China’s economic prospects, they voiced their readiness to utilize the Canton Fair as a platform to expand their business in China further.
Premier Li acknowledged and appreciated the long-term active participation of overseas buyers in the Canton Fair and their robust economic and trade cooperation with China. He noted that many overseas enterprises have connected with China through the fair and have grown alongside China’s development. Li emphasized that the history of the Canton Fair is a testament to companies worldwide sharing in China’s opportunities and achieving mutual benefits, reflecting China’s commitment to continuous opening up and integration into the international market.
He assured that China will steadfastly pursue high-level opening up, promoting trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. By providing stability to global trade and the world economy, China aims to offer broader opportunities for enterprises from all countries.
Premier Li encouraged overseas enterprises to continue exploring the Chinese market, expand their business endeavors, and share in the opportunities presented by China’s vast market demand and ongoing development. He highlighted the important role these enterprises play in enhancing mutual understanding and fostering mutually beneficial cooperation between China and other nations.
Furthermore, Li emphasized that China will align with high-standard international economic and trade rules, continue to expand market access, and ensure that foreign-funded enterprises receive equal treatment with domestic peers. China is committed to strengthening services and protections for foreign investment and intellectual property rights, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of foreign companies, and providing more support and convenience for international businesspeople and foreigners living and working in China.
