The much-loved giant panda Fu Bao has returned to China from South Korea’s Everland theme park, marking a heartfelt moment in wildlife conservation efforts between the two nations. Arriving in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Wednesday, Fu Bao was transported to the Shenshuping Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Wolong.
Fu Bao, whose name means “Lucky Treasure,” was born in 2020 at Everland to pandas Ai Bao and Le Bao, both on loan from China since 2016. Over the past three years, Fu Bao has become a beloved figure in South Korea, drawing countless visitors eager to catch a glimpse of the playful cub.
The return of Fu Bao is part of China’s collaborative efforts in giant panda conservation and research. At the Shenshuping Base, Fu Bao will undergo a quarantine period as standard procedure before joining other pandas in the center’s extensive conservation program.
This event underscores the ongoing partnership between China and South Korea in wildlife preservation and fosters goodwill through shared commitment to environmental stewardship. The giant panda, a national symbol of China, continues to serve as an ambassador for conservation and international cooperation.
As Fu Bao settles into her new home, experts and enthusiasts alike look forward to her growth and contribution to the understanding and preservation of this endangered species.
