Manchester United have reportedly made a formal approach to Southampton’s Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, as they continue efforts to reshape their recruitment team, according to ESPN.
The Red Devils are seeking to strengthen their management structure and see Wilcox as a valuable addition due to his experience and previous success. Wilcox previously worked at Manchester City before joining Southampton in the summer of 2023.
Southampton, currently competing in the EFL Championship, have agreed to the compensation offered by United. However, the timing of the approach has caused dissatisfaction, as the club is in the midst of a close race for Premier League promotion. They currently sit in fourth place with 74 points after 38 games, 11 points behind third-place Leicester City, who have played 39 games.
