Xi Jinping Congratulates Senegal’s President-Elect, Strengthening China-Africa Partnership

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Thursday following Faye’s election as the new president of Senegal. This gesture marks a significant moment in the ongoing partnership between China and Senegal, highlighting the deepening ties between the two nations.

In his message, President Xi emphasized the robust mutual political trust that has developed since China and Senegal established diplomatic relations. "I attach great importance to developing China-Senegal ties and stand ready to work with President Faye to support each other and enhance unity and coordination," Xi said.

As co-chairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), China and Senegal are set to jointly host a FOCAC summit in China later this year. This summit is expected to further advance the continuous development of China-Senegal and China-Africa relations. President Xi expressed his commitment to holding a successful summit together with President-elect Faye, aiming to better benefit the peoples of both sides.

The upcoming FOCAC summit will serve as a platform to strengthen economic and social ties across the African continent, offering opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers.
