China Launches Yunhai-3 02 Satellite to Boost Environmental Monitoring

China successfully launched the environmental monitoring satellite Yunhai-3 02 from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China’s Shanxi Province on Wednesday, marking a significant step in enhancing the nation’s capabilities in atmospheric and marine observation.

The satellite was carried into orbit by a Long March-6 rocket, which lifted off at 6:51 a.m. Beijing Time. The Yunhai-3 02 has entered its predetermined orbit and is set to undertake a variety of important tasks, including atmospheric and marine environment detection, space environment monitoring, disaster prevention and reduction, and scientific experiments.

This mission represents the 514th flight of the Long March carrier rocket series, underscoring China’s ongoing commitment to advancing its space exploration and environmental monitoring efforts. The data collected by Yunhai-3 02 is expected to play a crucial role in understanding and mitigating environmental challenges, contributing both to national initiatives and global environmental research.

The successful launch aligns with China’s broader objectives to leverage space technology for sustainable development and disaster management. Enhanced environmental monitoring capabilities will support efforts in responding to natural disasters, improving weather forecasting, and conducting scientific research, ultimately benefiting both China and the international community.
