China and ADB Strengthen Ties for High-Quality Regional Development

Beijing, China — Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in Beijing on Monday, signaling a deepening collaboration to promote high-quality development in the region.

Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, highlighted China’s role as a driving force in the global economy. He noted that despite facing multiple challenges, China’s economic recovery has been consolidated and strengthened.

“China will strive to promote high-quality development and expand opening up at a high level,” Ding stated. “We will actively promote economic globalization and create new opportunities for all through our new development initiatives.”

He commended the longstanding cooperative relationship between China and the ADB, welcoming the bank’s continued participation in China’s reform and opening-up process. Ding emphasized the potential for deepening practical cooperation in areas such as environmental protection, green and low-carbon development, elderly care, and medical services.

Masatsugu Asakawa expressed the ADB’s commitment to building a closer partnership with China. “The ADB looks forward to continuing support for China’s high-quality development,” Asakawa said. “We are prepared to actively encourage countries in the Asia-Pacific region to share in China’s successful development experience.”

The meeting underscores the mutual interest in strengthening economic cooperation and promoting sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region, with China and the ADB poised to jointly address regional challenges and opportunities.
