China Development Forum 2024 Highlights Opportunities for Global Growth

The China Development Forum (CDF) 2024, held from March 24 to 25 in Beijing, brought together global economic experts and business leaders to discuss the theme “The Continuous Development of China.” The forum highlighted the international community’s focus on China’s long-term, steady, and high-quality economic growth.

Following a strong start to the year, the Chinese economy has implemented policies aimed at maintaining steady and quality growth. Participants at the forum expressed optimism about China’s economic prospects and its impact on global development.

“China’s economic growth is unprecedented in human history. As the size of China’s economy has grown, so has its influence,” said Evan G. Greenberg, co-chair of CDF 2024 and chairman and CEO of Chubb Limited.

Masatsugu Asakawa, president of the Asian Development Bank, shared a positive outlook on China’s future. “Looking ahead for China, we see a stable growth trajectory in 2024, within the target range announced by the government,” he remarked.

China has set a target of around 5 percent economic expansion for this year. Jack Chan, chairman of EY China and regional managing partner of EY Greater China, described this goal as both pragmatic and inspiring. “Despite the numerous challenges in global growth, China’s solid economic fundamentals for long-term growth remain unchanged as shown in its 2023 performance, and we maintain confidence in the country’s ongoing high-quality development,” Chan emphasized.

The sentiments shared at CDF 2024 underscore the global opportunities presented by China’s continued development. As China pursues high-quality growth, it is poised to contribute significantly to the global economy.
