Xi Jinping Invites Dominica to Join ‘Express Train’ of Chinese Modernization

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended an invitation to the Commonwealth of Dominica to join the “express train” of Chinese modernization, emphasizing mutual development and cooperation. On Monday, President Xi met with Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit in Beijing, marking a significant moment in the 20-year diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

“China is willing to work with Dominica to synergize our development strategies,” President Xi stated. “We aim to transform our friendly relations into a driving force for win-win cooperation, achieving more tangible results and delivering greater benefits to both our peoples.”

Prime Minister Skerrit’s visit underscores the strengthening ties between China and Dominica, a key country in the Caribbean region. President Xi highlighted that since establishing diplomatic relations two decades ago, the two countries have consistently respected each other and treated one another as equals.

“Dominica is an important and trustworthy good friend and partner of China in the Caribbean,” President Xi remarked. “Our increasing political mutual trust, vigorous exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and the deepening friendship between our peoples exemplify the success of South-South cooperation.”

The meeting focused on enhancing collaborative efforts in areas such as infrastructure development, trade, and cultural exchange. Both leaders expressed optimism about future partnerships that align with China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Dominica’s national development plans.

Prime Minister Skerrit commended China’s rapid modernization and expressed enthusiasm for the opportunities that closer cooperation could bring. “We look forward to working closely with China to achieve shared prosperity and advance the well-being of our nations,” he said.

This meeting signifies a continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for mutual growth and development.
