On Saturday, China condemned the Philippines for allegedly trespassing into the adjacent waters of Ren’ai Jiao, part of China’s Nansha Qundao. China Coast Guard spokesperson Gan Yu stated that the Philippines had once again sent two coast guard ships and a supply ship into waters off Ren’ai Jiao, attempting to transport construction materials to its illegally “grounded” military vessel, just 18 days after the last resupply.
Gan Yu accused the Philippines of causing trouble and provoking disputes, deliberately disrupting the peace and stability of the South China Sea. He noted that despite multiple warnings and route controls from the Chinese side, the Philippine supply ship forcefully entered the area.
“China Coast Guard lawfully and professionally implemented regulation, interception, and expulsion,” Gan said, warning that “those who play with fire will get burned.”
He emphasized that the China Coast Guard remains on high alert and will resolutely defend the country’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.
