Over 1,700 Rescuers Combat Raging Forest Fire in Sichuan Province

A Level-4 emergency response has been activated to combat a raging forest fire in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, the Ministry of Emergency Management announced on Sunday. The fire, which broke out on Saturday evening, has spread rapidly due to dry conditions and strong winds.

As of 2 a.m. on Sunday, 930 personnel had been dispatched to battle the blaze, with an additional 775 responders rushing to the site, according to local authorities. Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching nearby residential areas.

Local residents in affected areas have been evacuated to ensure their safety. The challenging terrain and weather conditions are complicating firefighting efforts. Authorities have deployed helicopters and other equipment to aid in extinguishing the fire.

Sichuan Province, known for its mountainous landscapes and rich biodiversity, has been experiencing higher temperatures and lower rainfall, increasing the risk of wildfires. The authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire promptly.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
