New ‘One-Hour Living Circle’ Boosts Connectivity in Greater Bay Area

A \”one-hour living circle\” has been established in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, enhancing connectivity and integration within the region. Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the second session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People\’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), announced the development during a press conference on Sunday.

The implementation of multiple policies has significantly increased the number of vehicles from Hong Kong and Macao entering and leaving the Chinese mainland via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. This advancement strengthens the ties between the regions, promoting easier mobility for residents and businesses alike.

\”The Greater Bay Area has become a strategic fulcrum of the new development pattern, a demonstration zone for high-quality development, and a leader in Chinese modernization,\” Liu stated. The area\’s total economic output now exceeds 13 trillion yuan (approximately $1.8 trillion), and its patent capacity ranks first among the world\’s four major bay areas, marking it as one of the most promising growth poles globally.

The CPPCC has been actively involved in supporting the economic and social development of Hong Kong and Macao. In 2023, the committee offered suggestions on accelerating the integration of the Greater Bay Area market, optimizing the cross-border compliance system for financial data, and promoting industrial digitalization.

Committee members from Hong Kong and Macao have also visited various locations in Guangdong Province to explore cooperation and development opportunities. These efforts aim to foster deeper collaboration and contribute to the region\’s overall prosperity.
