APEC Summit Urged to Strengthen Supply Chain Cooperation

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit is currently underway in San Francisco from November 14 to 16. This annual gathering offers business leaders across the Asia-Pacific region a platform to engage with APEC economic leaders and policymakers on pressing regional issues.

Under the theme “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All,” this year’s summit emphasizes interconnectedness, innovation, and inclusivity. Participants are exploring ways to foster sustainable growth and enhance economic cooperation amid global challenges.

Victoria Chonn Ching, a postdoctoral researcher and teaching fellow at the University of Southern California, has highlighted the importance of strengthening supply chains in the Asia-Pacific region. An expert in economic policymaking and foreign policy between China and Latin America, Chonn Ching believes that in the face of growing protectionism, regional cooperation is essential for building resilient supply chains.

“Asian-Pacific countries need to collaborate more closely to ensure a sustainable future,” she stated. Chonn Ching also underscored the significance of green growth, trade, and amplifying women’s voices in the region’s economic development. She advocates for policies that promote inclusivity and innovation, aligning with the summit’s overarching goals.

The APEC CEO Summit continues to serve as a critical forum for shaping the economic landscape of the Asia-Pacific, bringing together diverse perspectives to address common challenges and opportunities.
