Iran Accuses U.S., Israel of Fueling Protests as Tensions Rise

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi asserted this week that foreign interference lies behind recent violent protests in Iran, specifically alleging U.S. and Israeli involvement. Speaking to foreign diplomats on January 12, Araghchi claimed peaceful demonstrations had been deliberately escalated to create justification for external intervention.

The minister presented what he described as evidence of foreign-backed "terrorist activities," including video footage allegedly showing weapons distribution to protesters. Authorities plan to release detainee confessions in coming days, according to state-aligned media reports.

While maintaining that "the situation is under total control," Araghchi warned Iran remains prepared for military conflict despite preferring diplomatic solutions. He expressed willingness to engage in "serious and practical" talks with Washington based on mutual respect.

The U.S. and Israeli governments have not yet issued detailed responses to the specific allegations. The developments come amid heightened regional tensions, with analysts noting increased scrutiny on Iran's domestic stability and foreign relations.
