Jin Boyang Claims Men’s Singles Title at China’s National Figure Skating Championships

Two-time Olympian Jin Boyang secured a decisive victory at China's National Figure Skating Championships in Harbin on Sunday, solidifying his position as a top contender for the 2026 Winter Olympics team selection. The 28-year-old skater dominated both short program and free skate segments, finishing with 277.76 total points despite a minor error on his triple Axel jump.

With the Winter Sports Management Center's Olympic selection process underway, Jin's performance gains significance. Athletes will be evaluated based on combined results from this national championship and October's ISU Grand Prix Cup of China, where Jin outperformed rivals Peng Zhiming and Dai Dawei. Chen Yudong and Peng completed this year's men's podium in second and third places respectively.

"My form has improved consistently through the Grand Prix events and now here," Jin told reporters. "While rankings matter, I'm focused on perfecting every element before the Olympic selection concludes."

New Generation Shines

In the women's competition, 14-year-old phenom Jin Shuxian defended her national title with a near-flawless free skate scoring 139.77 points. Her total 208.85 points demonstrated technical mastery beyond her years, with Zhang Ruiyang and Zhu Yi completing the podium.

The championships concluded as Chinese figure skating enters a critical phase, with Olympic team announcements expected in early 2026 following final qualification events.
