Hong Kong's tourism sector has achieved a landmark recovery in 2025, welcoming 45 million visitors in the first 11 months alone – surpassing last year's total annual figures. This resurgence comes as the city implements innovative strategies to reclaim its status as Asia's premier travel destination.
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law revealed to CGTN that targeted initiatives drove the revival: "Our 'Night Vibes Hong Kong' campaign extended visitor engagement through curated culinary and cultural experiences, while enhanced regional ferry services improved access to emerging attractions like the Northern Metropolis."
The recovery aligns with national development priorities outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan, which emphasizes Hong Kong's integration into China's broader economic strategy. Law noted: "We're developing multi-destination tourism circuits with mainland cities, creating synergies that benefit the entire Greater Bay Area."
Looking ahead, Hong Kong plans to leverage its unique East-meets-West cultural identity through new heritage trails and expanded convention facilities. With 2026 marking the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, officials are preparing special programming to showcase the city's development achievements.
