The Standing Committee of China's 14th National People's Congress (NPC) concluded its 19th session on December 27, 2025, approving six critical legal instruments that will shape economic and social governance. The newly adopted laws address hazardous chemical safety, fisheries management, civil aviation standards, language standardization, and foreign trade regulations.
President Xi Jinping formally promulgated the legislation through presidential orders, while NPC Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji emphasized the need for meticulous preparation for the upcoming fourth session of the 14th NPC, scheduled to convene March 5, 2026. Chairman Zhao underscored the importance of aligning legislative work with next year's priorities, particularly in foreign affairs oversight and economic legislation.
