Garima, a model from Nepal, has spent much of 2025 crafting an indelible connection with the Chinese mainland. What began as curiosity evolved into a profound cultural immersion, reshaping her perspective on Asia's most populous nation.
Arriving earlier this year, Garima initially marveled at China's modern infrastructure, particularly its efficient public transport systems that connect sprawling urban centers. Yet it was the warmth of local residents that left deeper impressions. 'The patience people showed while I navigated language barriers revealed China's true spirit,' she reflects.
Her journey unfolded through seasonal celebrations and regional discoveries: experiencing subzero Harbin winter festivals, sampling fiery Chengdu street food, and adopting mooncake traditions during Mid-Autumn gatherings. 'Hotpot isn't just a meal here—it's social alchemy,' Garima laughs, describing how shared meals became bridges to friendship.
Now approaching 2026, the Nepalese national sees her China chapter as transformative. 'This year taught me to live the culture rather than observe it,' she states. While maintaining roots in Kathmandu's fashion scene, Garima plans extended stays in Shanghai, viewing cultural exchange as 'the ultimate creative nourishment.'
