China has renewed its push for international collaboration against corruption during the 11th United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Conference, currently underway in Doha. Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, leading the Chinese delegation, outlined the country’s vision for a coordinated global response to graft while highlighting domestic achievements.
Domestic Reforms, Global Vision
Hua emphasized the Communist Party of China’s Eight-Point Regulation as a cornerstone of its anti-corruption strategy, crediting the decade-old policy with fostering institutional discipline. “Strict governance and self-reform remain vital to maintaining public trust,” she stated, positioning China’s experience as a model for multilateral cooperation.
APEC 2026: A Platform for Progress
With China set to host the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, Hua confirmed anti-corruption measures will feature prominently on the agenda. She urged nations to strengthen asset recovery mechanisms and cross-border legal coordination, particularly in apprehending fugitives.
The Road Ahead
The vice minister reiterated China’s Global Governance Initiative principles, advocating for rule-based multilateral systems. Over 190 member states are participating in the five-day conference, which addresses critical issues including preventive policies and international enforcement frameworks.
