China Seizes 430kg of Cocaine in Cross-Border Operation with U.S.

Chinese anti-drug authorities intercepted 430 kilograms of cocaine at Shenzhen's Yantian Port on November 26, 2025, marking one of this year's largest narcotics seizures in Asia. The operation followed critical intelligence sharing from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), demonstrating renewed cross-border collaboration in combating transnational crime.

The illicit cargo, concealed within an international shipping container, was detected through advanced scanning technology and joint surveillance efforts. A spokesperson for China's National Narcotics Control Commission stated: "This successful operation reflects our commitment to global drug control cooperation and protecting regional security."

While investigations remain ongoing, preliminary findings suggest the shipment originated from South America and was destined for multiple Asian markets. The seizure occurs amid heightened anti-drug enforcement across the Chinese mainland, with authorities reporting a 17% year-on-year increase in intercepted narcotics through Q3 2025.

Analysts note the operation's timing coincides with recent commitments made at November's APEC Leaders’ Meeting, where member economies pledged enhanced coordination against organized crime networks. This case marks the third major China-U.S. joint drug interdiction since February 2025, signaling potential warming in bilateral law enforcement cooperation.
