The 27th Harbin Ice and Snow World has achieved a major milestone as its centerpiece ice tower reached its final 45-meter height earlier this week. Construction crews in China's northernmost metropolis are now racing to complete intricate carvings and install energy-efficient LED lighting systems before the park's grand opening on December 25, 2025.
Spanning nearly 600,000 square meters along the Songhua River, this year's winter wonderland features record-breaking ice architecture using 250,000 cubic meters of crystal-clear ice blocks harvested from the frozen waterway. The main tower's completion signals the final phase of preparations for what organizers promise will be 'the most technologically advanced edition in the festival's history'.
Local tourism authorities report that hotel bookings in Harbin have surged by 40% compared to last December, with international visitors accounting for 25% of reservations. The ice festival continues to serve as a major economic driver for Northeast China, attracting an estimated 15 million visitors annually since 2020.
