Hong Kong Streamlines Voting for 2025 LegCo Election with New Polling Stations

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive John Lee announced on Saturday, December 6, 2025, that enhanced polling arrangements have been implemented to ensure broader participation in Sunday's Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election. The measures include new polling stations at strategic transit hubs and specialized facilities for key workforce groups.

Two temporary stations at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge checkpoint and Hong Kong International Airport's Terminal 2 will enable travelers to cast ballots without disrupting their journeys. Additional dedicated stations have been established for medical workers, ethnic minorities, and civil servants to accommodate their service schedules.

Lee personally inspected polling preparations on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of electing "aspiring, capable, and responsible representatives" to shape Hong Kong's future. The election occurs amid ongoing efforts to balance administrative efficiency with democratic participation in the region.

With these reforms, authorities aim to achieve higher voter turnout while maintaining electoral integrity. The LegCo election results are expected to influence policy directions in key areas including housing, economic recovery, and cross-border cooperation with the Chinese mainland.
