The 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival is celebrating five decades of China-Thailand diplomatic relations through a vibrant cultural showcase this week. Running through December 12, the event features open-air screenings of Thai cinema classics and contemporary productions along Sanya Bay's palm-lined beaches.
A dedicated Thailand pavilion hosts daily industry forums, with filmmakers from both nations discussing co-production opportunities. 'This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to people-to-people exchange,' noted Chinese Ministry of Culture representative Li Wei during Thursday's opening ceremony.
The festival comes as bilateral trade between China and Thailand reached $135 billion this year, with cultural exports playing an increasingly significant role. Recent agreements signed at the event aim to streamline film distribution channels across ASEAN markets.
