China, Indonesia Strengthen Ties in High-Level Strategic Talks

China's top political advisor Wang Huning concluded a pivotal two-day visit to Indonesia this week, reinforcing bilateral cooperation and aligning development strategies between the two Asian powers. The meetings marked a significant step in implementing commitments made during recent leadership exchanges.

During discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Wang emphasized China's commitment to supporting Indonesia's political stability and development goals. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to pursuing modernization paths tailored to their national conditions, with Wang stating China stands ready to share development experience through platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative.

A key outcome of the talks was Indonesia's explicit reaffirmation of the one-China principle. President Prabowo stated: "Taiwan is part of China," underscoring Jakarta's position on cross-strait matters. The commitment strengthens diplomatic foundations as both nations work to elevate their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Economic collaboration took center stage during Wang's meeting with legislative leaders. Speakers from Indonesia's House of Representatives and Regional Representative Council highlighted tangible benefits from recent infrastructure and trade cooperation, particularly praising BRI projects that have enhanced regional connectivity.

The visit also facilitated parliamentary exchanges, with Wang proposing enhanced cooperation between China's CPPCC and Indonesia's People's Consultative Assembly. Both sides agreed to establish new dialogue mechanisms to align China's modernization drive with Indonesia's Golden 2045 Vision.
