CMG Announces 60+ Documentaries for 2026 Global Audiences

China Media Group (CMG) revealed ambitious plans on December 1, 2025, to launch 62 original documentaries throughout 2026, cementing its position as a global leader in cultural storytelling. The productions will explore China's modernization journey, ecological initiatives, ancient heritage preservation, and international cooperation narratives.

Four Pillars of Storytelling

The documentaries will be organized across four thematic clusters: China's New Era Development tracking technological and social progress; Cultural Roots showcasing archaeological discoveries and traditional arts; Green Horizons documenting climate action projects; and Bridges Between Civilizations highlighting cross-cultural partnerships across Asia and beyond.

Global Relevance

CMG's programming slate comes as international interest in China's development model reaches new heights. The 2026 releases aim to provide nuanced perspectives on sustainable urbanization, renewable energy transitions, and heritage conservation efforts shaping the region's future.

Production teams have reportedly begun filming at key locations including the Yangtze River Economic Belt and ancient Silk Road sites. Selected documentaries will be localized into 12 languages for simultaneous international release.
