A spokesperson emphasized that actions endangering national security will face severe consequences under Hong Kong's legal framework, including the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance. "Those who spread false narratives and attack rescue efforts are not only immoral but legally accountable," the official stated, referencing attempts to revive social divisions reminiscent of 2019 unrest.
The office praised cross-strait cooperation in disaster response while urging residents to remain vigilant against misinformation. Authorities confirmed investigations into individuals allegedly using the tragedy to incite confrontation, with over 90% of affected families already receiving temporary housing assistance as of November 29.
"Hong Kong's prosperity depends on unity," the spokesperson concluded, calling for collective focus on rehabilitation efforts. The statement follows the deployment of mainland technical experts to assist with structural safety assessments at the fire-damaged complex.
