Nationwide Safety Drive Targets Urban Fire Risks
Chinese authorities have initiated comprehensive fire safety inspections across all high-rise structures, responding to a new directive from the State Council Work Safety Committee. The Ministry of Emergency Management announced on November 29, 2025 that this campaign will examine residential towers, office complexes, hospitals, and shopping centers, with particular focus on buildings undergoing exterior renovations.
"This initiative prioritizes public safety through proactive risk management," stated a ministry spokesperson. Special attention will be given to identifying flammable insulation materials, non-compliant construction scaffolding, and verifying operational readiness of critical fire suppression systems including hydrants and automated alarms.
Three-Tier Inspection System Implemented
The program mandates self-inspections by property managers followed by government audits, with immediate corrective actions required for any identified risks. Current data reveals over 80% of China's 100-meter-plus structures have been built since 2010, underscoring the urgency of modern safety protocols.
This safety push aligns with China's urban development goals for 2025, balancing rapid infrastructure growth with enhanced public protection measures. International fire safety experts have welcomed the move as a benchmark for megacity risk management.
