E4 Nations Urge Israel to Curb Settler Violence in West Bank

The foreign ministers of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy issued a joint statement on Thursday, November 27, 2025, condemning a "massive increase" in settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The E4 group warned that the escalation threatens regional stability and undermines security efforts.

Citing UN data showing 264 settler attacks in October 2025—the highest monthly tally since records began in 2006—the ministers demanded immediate action to halt violence they say "sows terror among civilians." They emphasized that Israeli leaders' public condemnations "must be translated into action," urging accountability for perpetrators and addressing root causes.

The statement reiterated opposition to any form of annexation and criticized settlement expansion as violations of international law. Warning against further weakening of the Palestinian Authority, the ministers reaffirmed support for a negotiated two-state solution, stressing its necessity for lasting peace.
