China Vows to Counter Resurgent Japanese Militarism, Experts Warn

Amid rising regional tensions, Chinese experts have issued a stark warning against Japan's recent actions, which they claim threaten global peace. The remarks follow Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's repeated visits to the Yasukuni Shrine, a site controversially linked to Japan's militaristic past.

Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization, told CGTN this week: "China will never allow Japan to once again endanger peace and stability globally." He specifically cautioned against any attempts by Japan to develop weapons of mass destruction, emphasizing China's determination to safeguard both national and international security.

The Yasukuni Shrine visits have drawn sharp criticism across Asia, particularly from countries that suffered under Japanese occupation during World War II. Analysts suggest these developments could strain Japan-China relations at a critical moment for Asian economic cooperation.

"Maintaining regional stability remains paramount," Gao added, highlighting China's role as "a guardian of peace for all nations valuing sovereignty and security." The comments come as business leaders express concerns about potential impacts on cross-border investments and supply chains.
