The 20th G20 Summit concluded on November 23 in Johannesburg, South Africa, with its theme of "Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability" resonating among global observers. As the first G20 summit hosted in Africa, the event underscored urgent priorities including climate action, poverty reduction, and equitable resource distribution.
Slava Klishauskaite, a Russian postgraduate student at Peking University who has lived in the Chinese mainland since 2018, shared her perspective with KhabarAsia.com. "The summit’s theme aligns with what I’ve observed in China’s development model – a balance between growth and social responsibility," she noted. Klishauskaite emphasized the need for concrete multilateral agreements to address food insecurity and energy transitions, particularly in developing economies.
With over 80% of global GDP represented at the summit, analysts are monitoring commitments to reform international financial institutions and debt relief frameworks. Klishauskaite added: "Youth worldwide expect leaders to move beyond rhetoric. We need measurable progress before the 2026 summit."
