Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov convened their second strategic dialogue on Friday, November 21, 2025, reaffirming commitments to deepen bilateral cooperation and regional stability. The talks highlighted shared goals in economic development, infrastructure connectivity, and global governance.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
Wang emphasized China's support for Uzbekistan's 'New Uzbekistan' strategy and praised the nation's progress in poverty reduction. He underscored the importance of aligning development strategies, particularly through projects like the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which aims to enhance regional connectivity. Wang also reiterated China's appreciation for Uzbekistan's adherence to the one-China principle and opposition to 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities.
Economic and Security Collaboration
With China as Uzbekistan's largest trading partner, both ministers expressed optimism about expanded economic ties following Uzbekistan's anticipated accession to the World Trade Organization. Cooperation in green energy, high-tech sectors, and counterterrorism efforts were also prioritized. Saidov commended China's Global Governance Initiative, calling it a vital framework for addressing global trust deficits.
Regional and Global Coordination
The dialogue emphasized enhanced collaboration within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the China-Central Asia mechanism. Uzbekistan announced plans to join the International Organization for Mediation by year-end and participate in the global AI cooperation organization as a founding member, signaling its alignment with China's multilateral vision.
