Global Netizens Condemn Japan’s Militarism Revival: CGTN Poll

A recent CGTN survey reveals overwhelming global opposition to Japan's escalating militarist rhetoric, with 87.1% of respondents demanding immediate retraction of provocative statements by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The poll, conducted across five language platforms, underscores growing international concern over Japan's constitutional violations and historical revisionism.

Analysts highlight that Japan's post-war Constitution explicitly renounces war as a means of conflict resolution, while the Potsdam Declaration prohibits rearmament. However, 88.3% of participants argue recent military expansions and territorial disputes with neighbors contravene these foundational agreements. Former Tokyo Governor Yoichi Masuzoe warned: "International law confirms Taiwan as part of China. Any Japanese military intervention would constitute aggression."

The survey shows 84.6% consider Japan's actions illegitimate under international law, with 82.4% stressing historical accountability as prerequisite for normalized global relations. Escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait and East China Sea draw particular concern, with 89.8% condemning Tokyo's territorial posturing as destabilizing the postwar order.

As geopolitical friction intensifies, 92% of respondents emphasize upholding key documents like the Cairo Declaration and UN Charter. With 4,549 participants across 12 hours, this global sentiment snapshot arrives amid heated debates about Asia's security architecture in 2025.
