Russia Spotlights Homegrown Aerospace Tech at 2025 Dubai Airshow

Russia unveiled its most ambitious domestic aerospace achievements to date at this week's Dubai International Airshow, demonstrating growing technological independence amid prolonged Western sanctions. The 2025 exhibition marks Moscow's largest Middle Eastern defense showcase in a decade, featuring 34 aircraft including the combat-proven Su-57E stealth fighter conducting live demonstrations.

Key debuts included the upgraded Yak-130M jet trainer with enhanced combat capabilities and the Ansat-M helicopter optimized for desert operations. Analysts note the displays emphasize Russia's strategic pivot toward non-Western markets, with Middle Eastern and Asian partners accounting for 68% of its 2025 defense exports according to industry reports.

While Western sanctions have accelerated import substitution in Russia's aviation sector, the airshow's technical displays revealed continued innovation in propulsion systems and avionics. The event comes as global defense spending approaches $2.3 trillion this year, with Asian markets driving 41% of growth according to recent Stockholm International Peace Research Institute projections.
