China Champions Green Urban Innovation at COP30 in Brazil

At a COP30 side event in Brazil this week, China Media Group (CMG) and partners showcased the nation's vision for sustainable urban development, emphasizing collaboration to address climate challenges. The China Pavilion event, themed 'Building Beautiful Green and Low-Carbon Cities Together,' drew over 100 global stakeholders to discuss accelerating green transitions in cities.

Li Gao, Vice Minister of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, highlighted that cities account for more than 70% of global carbon emissions. 'China's progress in low-carbon urban planning demonstrates how climate action can drive high-quality development while improving living standards,' he stated, calling for expanded international cooperation.

CMG's Latin America bureau head Zhu Boying outlined media's role in climate governance: 'Through visual storytelling, we aim to share China's ecological achievements and inspire collective action.' The event featured case studies on renewable energy integration and smart city design from Chinese municipalities.

Michael Adalla of UNITAR praised China's green urbanization model as a blueprint for economic recovery: 'China's government-public partnerships during rapid urban growth offer valuable lessons for achieving net-zero transitions worldwide.' The discussion concluded with commitments to strengthen knowledge-sharing platforms and talent development programs.
