The 2025 Global Mayors Dialogue, set to begin tomorrow in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, will bring together city leaders from around the world to explore cultural collaboration as a cornerstone of urban development. Organized under the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF), the three-day event highlights Nanjing’s growing role in fostering international partnerships since joining the WCCF as a formal member in 2019.
Justine Simons, founder of the WCCF and London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, recently praised Nanjing’s contributions in a video message. “It is really important that cities come together to collaborate,” she said, emphasizing the city’s active engagement in global cultural exchanges. Simons also extended her wishes for the event’s success, underscoring its potential to shape future inter-city initiatives.
With cultural diplomacy gaining prominence in global governance, the dialogue is expected to address strategies for leveraging heritage, arts, and innovation to tackle shared urban challenges. Nanjing’s blend of historical significance and modern infrastructure positions it as an ideal host for these critical discussions.
