CGTN reporter Lucy recently fulfilled her long-held dream of visiting Fenghuang Ancient Town, a 400-year-old cultural treasure in Hunan Province. The riverside settlement, built along the Yangtze tributary Tuojiang River, showcases Ming and Qing dynasty architecture with its stilted wooden houses and stone-paved streets.
During her November 2025 visit, Lucy documented not only the town's iconic mist-shrouded bridges and waterside pavilions but also uncovered unique local culinary traditions. Among the regional specialties she sampled was a distinctive dish featuring honeybee larvae – a testament to the area's preserved cultural practices.
The journalist's exploration comes three days after her recent work "240-Hour Pass in China: Where Pavilions Meet Peaks" highlighted other Chinese cultural landmarks. Fenghuang's preservation status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site candidate continues to draw attention to China's efforts in maintaining historical sites while promoting sustainable tourism.
