Over 2,000 Hong Kong volunteers are demonstrating exceptional dedication at China's 15th National Games, which entered its sixth day on November 14, 2025. As one of three co-hosting regions alongside Guangdong Province and Macao Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong's multi-generational volunteer force has become a defining feature of this historic sporting event.
The Games, running through November 21, mark the first tri-regional collaboration in the competition's 66-year history. Volunteers aged 18 to 75 have taken on critical roles ranging from venue operations to athlete support. "This isn't just about sports – it's about showing our unity," said volunteer team leader Chan Mei-ling during a break at the Kowloon Park Sports Centre.
Organizers highlight the volunteers' specialized training in cross-cultural communication and emergency response, skills particularly valuable given the Games' record participation of 38,000 athletes. The event has also accelerated infrastructure upgrades, including new smart venue management systems being tested in Hong Kong's recently completed Kai Tak Sports Park.
