China, EU Key to Global Stability: Envoy Stresses Multipolar Vision

Chinese Ambassador to the EU Cai Run reaffirmed Beijing and Brussels' shared responsibility in shaping global stability during the 13th China-Europe Forum in Brussels this week. Speaking on November 13, 2025, the diplomat emphasized both powers' roles as 'major forces in building a multipolar world' while commemorating 50 years of formal diplomatic relations.

Anniversaries Frame Strategic Partnership

Cai highlighted three pivotal milestones observed this year: the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory, the United Nations' 80th founding anniversary, and five decades of China-EU ties. 'These historical moments remind us cooperation transcends differences,' he stated, urging accelerated implementation of leadership agreements on trade and climate initiatives.

Red Lines and Common Ground

While advocating expanded economic collaboration, the ambassador reiterated Beijing's position on the Taiwan question as a 'red line,' calling for strict EU adherence to the one-China principle. He framed cross-strait stability as crucial for broader China-EU relations, alongside mutual respect for 'independently chosen development paths.'

The envoy's remarks come as both blocs prepare for high-level dialogues in early 2026, with observers noting increased coordination on artificial intelligence governance and renewable energy investments.
