Senior Chinese and Kazakh officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation during high-level talks in Beijing this week. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with Murat Nurtleu, assistant to Kazakhstan's president, on Thursday to discuss expanding collaboration across energy, infrastructure, and emerging technologies.
Wang emphasized the 'permanent comprehensive strategic partnership' between the two nations, highlighting progress in Belt and Road Initiative projects and calling for enhanced coordination in green mineral development and cross-border connectivity. 'Our relationship has withstood various tests and continues to show broad development prospects,' Wang stated during the meeting.
The discussions identified nuclear energy and artificial intelligence as new growth areas for cooperation. Both sides agreed to accelerate implementation of joint projects while strengthening multilateral coordination through platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Nurtleu acknowledged the strategic guidance from both countries' leaders, stating: 'Kazakhstan stands ready to work with China to translate our leaders' consensus into tangible outcomes.' He specifically referenced plans to boost people-to-people exchanges and digital infrastructure development under the Belt and Road framework.
The meeting concluded with China expressing support for Kazakhstan's growing international role and both parties endorsing enhanced collaboration in regional security matters. Wang also invited Kazakhstan to join the International Mediation Court, underscoring Beijing's commitment to multilateral dispute resolution mechanisms.
